OASIS: Go Let It Out (Big Brother Recordings) - Having admitted that their third album, Be Here Now, was an uninspired effort, Manchester's mouthiest brothers churn out more sub-standard retro rock. They missed the chance to quit while they were world-beaters and, unless the album is a lot better, Oasis could be on the way to obscurity. (5/10) PB

ADAM RICKITT: Best Thing (Polydor) - So many B-list TV celebrities make records these days, like the receptionist from Casualty and that dratted Maureen from the driving school documentary, that it seems only natural that a soap star should launch a music career. But, amazingly, Rickitt seems to have found a foothold in the music business with his brand of cheesy Euro pop drivel. Are we really just a nation of tone-deaf Coronation Street fans? (2/10) PB

DAY ONE: In Your Life (Virgin) - This offbeat, jangly pop sparkles with a fresh simplicity as acoustic guitars, tambourines and what is possibly a mandolin complement an excellent, faintly Celtic, vocal. (7/10) PB ALBUMS INCOGNITO: Remix Album (Talkin' Loud) - The much-loved mixers of jazz, funk, dance and soul have let various people give their tunes a makeover. They're funky, easy listening songs which are enjoyable but which don't really grab your attention. It's not middle-of-the-road but it certainly isn't challenging and you could easily forget it's playing. (6/10) PB
