BLACKBURN with Darwen Council's education department has been rewarded for being a leading light in education.
Home Secretary and Blackburn MP Jack Straw presented the department with a certificate and rose bowl in recognition of its achievement of beacon status.
The council will now act as an example to other education departments across Britain and run seminars, workshops and roadshows.
