SUNDAY morning service at Christ Church, Colne, was taken by the Bishop of Burnley, the Rt Rev Martyn Jarrett, who dedicated the reconstructed and redecorated east end of the church.

In the congregation were members of St Michael and All Angels Church, Foulridge, and the Rev Kathleen Allen, team leader at St Michael's.

The vicar, the Rev John Priestly, explained: "The east wall was in danger of falling down, so the parish raised more than £50,000 over three years to pay for the work and redecoration. Last In November we went to St Michael's for four Sundays while work was being done and invited them here for today's rededication"
