Flintshire Freeze 5 Blackburn Hawks 7

HAWKS boss Bobby Haig was delighted with his side's performance in this English League Division One (North) clash as Hawks stepped up their promotion bid.

Haig's side did their play-off chances a world of good with a fine display against one of their fiercest rivals.

Hawks responded to last month's 6-3 defeat at the Arena in style, Craig Sharman, Dan Mackriel, Wayne Slater and Haig all getting on the scoresheet.

But it was netminder Robbie Smith who earned all the praise from the Hawks player-coach.

"Robbie was excellent tonight," said Haig, "he won us the game with some absolutely marvellous saves.

"It was a good team performance, but you have to give him credit, if it weren't for him things could have been very different."
