IS it not time to re-introduce the identity card system - in view of the recent case of one person, and an illegal immigrant at that, being able to rip off the Department of Social Security to the tune of £400,000, having been able to claim for 43 children and draw housing benefit for 11 homes, as well as claiming Income Support under numerous different names?
Tony Blair is always on about things being on a level playing field. We were never nearer to a level playing field than when everyone was issued with a ration book, identity card and a gas mask.
Anyone who objects to an identity card system must have something to hide. So bring back the identity card, complete with the holder's photo and thumb print.
