THE days of Emily Pankhurst and the women's suffragette movement are a thing of the past, born in an era when women were regarded as second-class citizens.

But it seems the age of the dinosaur is still alive and kicking in various circles.

The Professional Golfers Association's attempt at banning a female employee for choosing to wear trousers is just one example.

There are other anomalies in the golf clubs which need addressing.

It is only of late that lady members have been allowed to enter the members' enclosure at Lancashire County Cricket Club - that after a prolonged struggle.

Sorry, fellows, the women are here to stay, and it's a brave man who dares to tell the fairer sex what they must or must not do.

Whether the committee like it or not the ladies, God bless them, are a dominant force in all aspects of life, including sport.
