I ENTIRELY agree with Mr J Livesey (Letters, January 18) - people should have learned by now not to believe everything this government tells us.

Pensioners are being victimised and promises are being broken. But to give pensioners at 75 a free TV licence and not those at 60-65 is a real shabby trick.

All pensioners while working have paid their contributions to the state - some for many, many years. All pensioners have to pay the same cost of day-to-day living - gas, food, electricity, etc. So why this age differential?

It is nothing to do with younger pensioners being more healthy than older pensioners and not being housebound. Some 75-year-olds are more active than some 65-year-olds.

It is the luck of the draw which way our health goes as we become older. So there is no excuse whatsoever for this age discrimination. They are just trying to con us into thinking they are helping the pensioner.

I hope pensioners will not forget this injustice when voting time comes around in May. Only then will you have a chance to do something about it.

Also, the Government hasn't a clue how to run our NHS. Look at the fiasco. What has happened to all the money generated by the lottery? We were told in the beginning that this money would be used for health and education, and yet we are told there is no money.

This country is far too busy looking after asylum seekers and the like.

This government is all mouth and no trousers.
