A CLASS of 39 slimmers from Rosegrove shed their Christmas excesses' losing more than 104lbs between them.

Stars of the weekly Weight Watchers sessions were Jean Metcalfe who lost nine and a half pounds in her first week and Jack Cochran who lost eleven and a half pounds in his second week.

Their successes were highlighted at a free weigh-in session at Burnley's Marks and Spencer store on Saturday.

Weight Watchers leader Jeanette Etherington said: "We are promoting healthy weight loss along with the store's healthy choice range, Count On Us.

"Losing ten per cent of your body weight creates a feeling of wellbeing and helps to reduce high blood pressure and other health risks such as diabetes."

More than 40 people took the opportunity to weigh up the healthy eating options and benefits of losing a few pounds.
