Division Two: Bury 0 Bristol City 0

BURY have still to win a match this yearand, despite manager Andy Preece trying a new strike pairing of Paul Barnes and Ian Lawson, the Shakers again found difficulty in converting their play into goals.

Leading scorer Lawson missed what must have rated as the sitter of the season until Paul Reid took the dubious honour for himself later in the game.

The admirable Barnes was denied a goal by the fingertips of Billy Mercer and worked his socks off all afternoon, linking play intelligently.

Preece himself replaced Lawson and almost got the winning touch with a header after good play from Barnes, in the dying moments.

But for Bury, unless those goals start coming, they are in danger of joining the relegation scramble.
