A GLIMMER of hope was raised in the battle to save almost 500 jobs when bosses of Brooke Bond Foods agreed to meet an all-party delegation of councillors.
Councillors were shocked when the company announced it was to phase out its Oxo cube plant at Great Harwood in 1992, throwing 475 people out of work.
Hyndburn council's Labour leader George Slynn pledged to do all he could to persuade the company to stay in the borough.
