A LIQUID was thrown or sprayed into the face of a shop assistant at a newsagent's by a robber who got away with about £150 from the till.

The women was badly shaken but not hurt.

The robbery happened at the shop at the bottom of Coal Clough Lane, Burnley, at 3.10pm yesterday, and police are appealing for witnesses.

The assistant was working behind the counter and as she turned to open the cash register a substance was either thrown or sprayed into her face, misting up her glasses.

The crook grabbed money from the till and ran off. He is described as white, 5ft 7ins tall, aged 18-19 and slim. He was wearing a black, peaked baseball cap, three-quarter length dark jacket and carrying a black sports bag.

Anyone who saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area or running away from the shop is asked to contact Burnley CID on 01282 425001.
