FIREFIGHTERS broke into a flat in Richmond House, Richmond Avenue, Accrington, at 6.55pm yesterday, after the man who lives there went out leaving his dinner on the oven.
A smoke alarm alerted neighbours who dialled 999.
The kitchen and lounge were smoke damaged and the pan and food were destroyed by fire.
