Division Two: Oxford United 0 Preston North End 4

PRESTON rubber-stamped their return to form as this comprehensive victory propelled David Moyes' side into second place in Division Two.

A brace from top scorer Jon Macken was followed by goals from David Eyres and Michael Appleton, but the real credit has to go to captain Sean Gregan, who was a major doubt for this game but rushed back from injury to dominate the midfield.

Macken put Preston ahead on 17 minutes, latching onto Colin Murocks header to turn the ball home for the opener after some good early play from the home side.

But in the second half Oxford folded. Five minutes after the break Macken notched his 20th goal of the season, knocking in Michael Appleton's cross.

A David Eyres free kick made the points safe on 74 minutes before Michael Appleton rounded off a great night for North End with a vicious strike in injury stime.
