A DINNER lady will run in this year's London Marathon - her first-ever gruelling 26 mile run - to raise £1,500 for the Macmillan nurses cancer appeal.

Jill McFadden, 36, of Percy Street, West End, Oswaldtwistle, has pledged the cash to the nurses because of the support they gave to her aunt, Betty Heap, of Rishton, who died two years ago.

Jill, who works at St Nicholas CE Primary School, Church, is currently training with a group of women from the Accrington Road Runners and has already run 16 miles in practice.

Married to Stuart, 36, and with two children Katie, nine and Olivia, five, Jill said: "I am doing lots of events to raise the money, including a Valentines Dance on February 12 and a karaoke in March.

"I have been training hard and and am sure I will finish."

Anyone interested in attending the Valentines Dance at James Street Club, Oswaldtwistle, or would like to sponsor Jill can contact her on 01254 385626.
