Reporter Mike Ribbeck continues his battle to quit smoking

IT has still been five weeks since I have had a cigarette and I thought I had turned the corner.

But after a fairly rotten weekend I feel like I am back at square one and feel very close to taking up the cigarettes again.

A football bet went horribly wrong and I saw £150 disappear in smoke three minutes away from collecting my winnings.

At the last minute I was also pitched in to helping at a sixth birthday party on Sunday which involved looking after 25 youngsters.

The list of people who say they have stopped now include Bob Kay of Clitheroe, Paula Birch of Blackburn, Joanne Dixon of Accrington, Natasha Richardson, Paul Roberts of Darwen, Andrea Curran of Colne, Andrea Muldoon, N Thompson and M Wiggans of Blackburn, Mr Billington of Accrington, Deborah Heyes, Jane Billington and Allison McIntyre.

And don't forget, if are planning to quit smoking then write to Michael Ribbeck at the Lancashire Evening Telegraph, Newspaper House, High Street, Blackburn, BB1 1HT or e-mail mribbeck@lancashire.newsquest.co.uk.
