A SKI Everest challenge to raise money for The Anthony Nolan Bone Marrow Trust was cancelled because of a lack of interest.

The event, which was to be held at Ski Rossendale last Saturday, challenged skiers of all ages and abilities to ski a length equivalent to the height of Everest while being sponsored.

The four-and-a-half hour programme included skiing, a children's treasure hunt and a fancy dress competition.

Duty officer Mike Dewhurst said: "There wasn't enough interest, but we are always open to ideas, so if we can get it properly marketed we will try to organise it for another date."
