THE world famous Brighouse and Rastrick Brass Band will be belting out top tunes at Colne Municipal Hall in May in aid of a local charity.

The Yorkshire band are current UK and European brass band champions, and their biggest hit was the 1970s chart-topping Floral Dance with Terry Wogan.

They will play a concert organised by Nelson Arion Choir on May 13, the third of four events organised by the choir in aid of Hospice Care for Burnley and Pendle.

The first two events raised almost £6,000 for the charity, which runs Pendleside Hospice, Reedley.

The Brighouse concert will be sponsored by Nelson-based Marsden Building Society, which is a leading supporter of the hospice.

The society's operations director, Martin Mulligan, said: "Without financial sponsorship the hospice would be unable to offer the level of support required by a huge number of patients provided for by staff at Pendleside."

Tickets at £9 and £7 are available from Neville Mitchell on 01282 867421, the hospice on 440100 and the Municipal box office on 01282 661234.
