A FORMER performing arts student at Accrington and Rossendale College has landed a leading role in a play in London's West End.

Twenty-four-year-old Lee Ingleby will be acting in Cressida at the Albany Theatre alongside Michael Gambon, who has starred in numerous television shows, including The Singing Detective.

Lee's former tutor, Martin Cosgrif, described him as "a really bouncy character with lots of energy and enthusiasm."

Lee, who used to live in Mansfield Crescent, Brierfield, is the latest in a run of Accrington and Rossendale College students who have gone on to make a name for themselves in the theatre and on television.

Former student Joe Alessi was recently nominated for an Olivier award for his performance as Chico Marx in Animal Crackers, which finished its West End run last year.
