REVELLERS at the sell-out Pendle Mayor's charity dinner dance took time to remember those less fortunate with a collection for the Mozambique flood disaster, which raised £175.

All 186 tickets were sold for the event at Colne Municipal Hall with all the money raised going towards the Mayoress's charity appeal which this year is for Pendle Stroke Group; Pendle, Burnley and Rossendale Samaritans and to help with the purchase of much-needed digital scales for use by the midwives in Colne and Nelson.

Mayor Coun Edwina Sargeant said: "It was an absolutely brilliant evening with people commenting that it was the best for many years. I would like to thank everyone for their support."

The four course meal had a Caribbean flavour and was followed by entertainment by the Caribbean Steel Band of Leeds.
