AN inquiry has been launched into the death of a Stacksteads man who was found hanged in his cell.
The prison service has confirmed that 31-year-old David Edwards was found hanging from a ligature made out of bed sheets at Armley Prison, Leeds.
A prison officer attempted to resuscitate him but he was pronounced dead after being taken to Leeds General Infirmary.
Mr Edwards, of Church Street, was on remand for robbery and was due to appear at Calderdale Magistrates Court, Halifax, today.
