NEW service which helps resolve neighbourhood issues such as noise, nuisance, car parking, pet problems, boundary disputes and harassment, held its first annual general meeting in Burnley.

Mediation in Burnley was launched in December and has already successfully solved its first dispute between neighbours in Padiham over the behaviour of their children.

The free service for residents of Burnley and surrounding districts operates from The School House, Smirthwaite Street, Burnley and is funded by the East Lancashire Health Authority, Lancashire Social Services and Burnley Council.

It offers a friendly, confidential and independent response to calls for help by providing an impartial third party mediation service.

The annual meeting was held at the Central Methodist Church.

Bill Turner was confirmed as company secretary and Chris Black was elected chairman.
