PENDLE MP Gordon Prentice went back to the classroom to learn more about how a successful village school is hoping to expand.

Mr Prentice joined staff and pupils at Blacko Primary School yesterday to learn more about the village school and its work.

He was told about the school's efforts to get funding to extend its mezzanine floor to create another classroom to meet demand from parents for places as well as its long wait to be connected to the internet as part of a national initiative.

Head Lesley Harper said: "He was very impressed with what he saw and we were very pleased to see him. He spoke to Year 6 pupils about his work as an MP and invited us down to the House of Commons."

The 83-pupil school had an Ofsted inspection two weeks ago and is waiting their report which is believed to be glowing one.

Mr Prentice is pictured with headteacher Lesley and pupils Cameron Wych and Amy Park.
