PEOPLE went flipping crazy to celebrate Pancake Day.

At Asda in Blackburn, staff joined members of the emergency services for a sponsored flipping competition to raise cash for the East Lancashire Hospice, Park Lee, Blackburn.

The store, the police, the ambulance service and fire service all raised funds separately.

Asda's total was £74 - which will be matched by the company's charitable foundation.

There were also competitions to find the fastest flipper with the first prize of wine and the booby prize of a lemon.

Staff at Booths supermarket in Clitheroe organised a pancake race to raise funds for the cancer care centre at the Christie Hospital, Manchester.

Picture shows (from left) firefighter Nigel Hodson, Eileen Schofield from the Ambulance Service, in costume Emma Merritt, Asda Blackburn customer service manager, PC Shirley Boothby and Susan Whittaker from the hospice.
