A BRIGHT idea invented in a bus driver's garden shed has been presented with an award.
Hyndburn MP Greg Pope presented the Millennium Products award to Dynamic Healthcare for the hand splint it has developed.
Millennium Product status is awarded by the Government and the Design Council to firms whose products represent the best of British innovation.
Former bus driver Brian Foote was off work with a hand problem two years ago when he decided to try and improve the splints given to him by doctors.
His invention is undergoing trials at Blackburn Royal Infirmary on other patients.
Brian, 56, from Blackburn, formed Dynamic Healthcare to develop and market the product with former Stagecoach colleague John Hornsby. Both men are originally from Oswaldtwistle and have named their device after the town.
Florence McGowen, 90, from Cherry Tree, Blackburn who uses the splint, was also at the presentation ceremony held at Dynamic Healthcare's Eanam Wharf base.
Mr Pope is pictured presenting the award to Brian Foote, watched by Florence McGowen, who uses the splint invention, Dynamic Healthcare administration director John Hornsby and company chairman Edward Jackson.
