ELDERLY people in Hoddlesden are celebrating after being told that rumours their bus service faced the axe were not true.
Residents had drawn up plans to start a petition and mount a campaign about the threat to the 31a service which runs from Darwen to Hoddlesden.
But they have now been assured by ward councillor Fred Slater that the bus will continue to stop in Glenshiels Avenue and Gleneagles Avenue on an hourly basis.
He said: "The service will continue to help the elderly people in the area get in and out of Hoddlesden.
"I have been assured that is the case by Blackburn Transport and have told the residents that is the case."
