AN England shirt which once belonged to Blackburn Rovers soccer legend Bryan Douglas (pictured) could be yours for £800 when it goes under the hammer during a football memorabilia auction later this month.

The white V-neck cotton shirt with embroidered England badge was swapped by Douglas after a game against Scotland and is expected to raise between £600 and £800 at the Football Memorabilia Sale at Christie's in London, on March 30.

Douglas, who made more than 400 league appearances for Rovers and remains one of the club's most memorable and outstanding players, swapped the number seven shirt with Scottish international Eric Caldow during a match sometime between 1958 and 1963.

Douglas, who still lives in Darwen, said: "It's a long, long time ago but I played against Eric Caldow a few times and it was traditional to swap shirts.

"I have heard of my shirts coming up at auction a couple of times but I have quite a few myself. "I wouldn't consider selling them at the moment because they have sentimental value but I couldn't buy them either because I couldn't afford it."

During his time at Ewood Park, Douglas earned about £20 a week.

He said: "It was about £1,000 a year - so I could just about to buy the shirt now with a year's wages from then." The shirt is listed as lot 94 in the sale which includes more than 500 lots and everything from Jack Kelsey's Division One championship medal from the 1952-53 season to an 1893 FA Cup winners medal, both of which are expected to go for between £2,000 and £3,000. Douglas made 36 appearances for England between 1958 and 1963 while scoring more than 100 goals during his time at Ewood Park.

Now 65, he was a member of the Rovers squad which lost 3-0 to Wolverhampton Wanderers in the FA Cup final in 1960.
