THE announcement by the Greek Government that it is to buy 60 Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft is splendid news for East Lancashire.
The cheers will ring far beyond the main plants of BAE Systems at Samlesbury and Warton.
Firms across East Lancashire are involved in manufacturing components for the Typhoon.
An awful lot of jobs depend on the success of an aircraft which is getting rave reviews from test pilots who have flown it.
Profitability depends on sales to air forces outside the countries which have developed it, Britain, Germany, Italy and Spain.
Let us hope others follow the example of the Greeks.
