Bury 3 Scunthorpe United 0
THE Shakers finally buried any lingering fears over their Second Division future with a convincing win over visitors Scunthorpe.
And it was a personal milestone day.
Dean Crowe, notched his first goal for Bury, Andy Preece converted a nerve calming penalty for the 100th goal of his career, and the admirable Paul Barnes, scored his first at Gigg Lane.
Despite the comfort of the margin, Bury were unable to reproduce some of the quality displayed in recent games, but the much overused Gigg Lane pitch has now deteriorated to its familiar end of season resemblance to Ainsdale beach, making passing a difficult art.
The much criticised Chris Billy had an excellently constructive game in midfield despite the difficulties, and the newly reformed "Barmy Army" provided a carnival atmosphere.
