LOWERHOUSE Junior School's first spring fair proved a "blooming" great success, with head Dominic Conti admitting: "When you hold these things you never know how many people will turn up. I was pleasantly surprised at how many came through the door."

The event on Saturday included the usual mix of stalls, games, face painting and a bouncy castle. Burnley Council provided some of the equipment.

The event was organised by the school's Parents, Teachers and Friends Association and money raised went to the group's funds to benefit the school.
