KIDS gazed in amazement as Stromboli the entertainer breathed fire in a church.

And there were gasps of awe as he swallowed a real sword.

There had never been anything like it in 150 years at St Peter's Church, Belmont, but members were determined to make the church's 150th anniversary something extra special.

Events got under way with a parade through the village which included the Salvation Army and the Royal British Legion.

A special service was followed by a concert staged by the Salvation Army band and the church choir.

The day finished off with the street entertainers including the amazing Stromboli taking centre stage.
