THERE have been mistakes, errors of judgment and, in some cases, negligence, in some of our hospitals.

All were regrettable, others preventable and, naturally, answers must be found, staff examined and the sufferers compensated.

Having said that, let us consider the huge number of people receiving treatment, much of it specialised, or the countless thousands waiting in line for answers to their problem.

Put the numbers into perspective; think of the overwhelming number who are treated and cured.

I believe the surgeons, doctors and other staff do a magnificent job.

The chances are, we will all be under their care at some time. The doubters and knockers may then appreciate their worth.
