COLD weather is raising concern for the safety of a 28-year-old man who has been missing from home for more than a week.

Munir Alam was last seen cashing his giro at the post office in New Bank Road, Blackburn.

Det Sergeant Rob Campbell of Blackburn CID said: "His family and police are concerned for his safety.

"We know he has slept rough before but it is unusual for him not to contact his family for this length of time.

"As far as we know he has no extra items of clothing with him.

"Police have been out searching. We need to find him especially bearing in mind the inclement weather we have been having."

Munir, of Leamington Road, Blackburn, is Asian, 5ft 10ins, stocky, with a clear complexion, clean shaven, brown eyes and dark brown, collar-length hair. He was wearing a navy blue tracksuit top and bottoms with thin red stripes on the arms. Anybody with information should contact Blackburn police on 01254 51212.
