REGARDING your article about Councillor Stephen Greenwood (LET, March 28), is this the type of person who is supposed to be looking after the public's interest?

His actions and words bring back memories of Militant Tendency. I am so disgusted and angered by the undemocratic actions of our present Labour councillors that I feel ordinary members of the public should make their views known.

Surely, members of the council have been elected to serve the public interest of this town. I cannot see how this can be done by a small cabal of councillors holding secret meetings with members of the opposition, the public and the press being barred.

The people have a right to know what their council is doing regarding the running of their town and not be presented with a fait accompli.

Why have I voted for my representative on the council if he has to have no say in its decision-making? This is not democracy.

I will not be voting Labour again until real democracy is restored.
