A PENDLE flower show is establishing roots far and wide across the North as one of the premier shows of the region.

The annual Barnoldswick Horticultural Society daffodil and spring flower show, held at Barnoldswick Civic Hall on Saturday attracted top class exhibits from South Yorkshire and Cheshire for the first time as well as competitors from across Lancashire and other parts of Yorkshire.

Society secretary Alan Greenwood said: "It was a superb show. We had exhibitors from as far as Rotherham and Wakefield. It means you get better quality exhibits and that makes growers work harder to compete. The quality of the show goes up."
