LANCASHIRE League champions Nelson have called an emergency meeting for tomorrow after their latest attempts to find a replacement for professional Roger Harper have ended in failure.

After months of searching, the Seedhill club finally thought they had found a solution when Pakistani spinner Mushtaq Ahmed agreed to sign a contract last week.

But he has since been called up to the Pakistan squad for a Test series against the West Indies in the summer and has had to withdraw from the deal.

That then prompted the club to switch their attentions to Aussie spinner Colin Miller but he has also rejected the chance of a move to Seedhill.

So the reigning Lancashire League champions have now got just three weeks to come up with an alternative.

"I'm getting a bit worried about it all to be honest," admitted captain Duncan Spencer.

"We had sent out a contract to Mushtaq and we were at that because he's a quality player who would have attracted the crowds.

"But then he got picked to go to the West Indies and he had to pull out.

"Since then we've contacted Colin Miller but that also fell through.

"So now we are hoping Roger Harper can come up with someone because we are struggling.

"With only three weeks to go, he's probably our last hope."
