A TIPSY and frightened teenager was allegedly raped twice by a stranger when she went back to his house after a night on the town, a court was told.

Burnley Crown Court heard how Mark Woodworth grabbed hold of the 17-year-old girl's arms and pinned them down as he ignored her repeated protests and had sex with her.

The girl told the jury how she had "snogged" the defendant, after meeting him in a kebab shop and had been flattered when he said she was gorgeous, although she did not fancy him.

She claimed she thought she had been going back to Woodworth's home, then in Devonshire Street, Accrington, to sleep.

Woodworth, 39, now of East Hill Street, Barnoldswick, denies two counts of rape, last August 8.

Andrew Lowcock, prosecuting, said the girl had been with her sister and sister's boyfriend to Afrikas nightclub, Accrington, had a fair amount to drink and kissed a number of men but it all seemed to have been pretty innocent.

About 3am they left and on the way to a kebab shop, they met Woodworth. He chatted up the 17-year-old, walked with her, held her hand and they kissed, becoming separated from the girl's sister.

Woodworth suggested they go to his house, and although anxious to find her sister, she agreed.

When they arrived, the teenager, due to the alcohol and the fact she was tired, lay on the defendant's bed.

She had a puff on a cannabis cigarette, took off her boots and Woodworth undressed and got in bed with her.

The girl was by now panicking and just wanted to sleep, but the defendant took her clothes off her, pinned down her arms and raped her. He then raped her again. Mr Lowcock said Woodworth then offered the girl a cigarette and both fell asleep.

The next morning, she went to her sister's house and police were alerted. In interview, Woodworth claimed the girl had consented to everything they had done.

Questioned by Mr Lowcock, the girl said she thought she had been going back to Woodworth's to sleep and was frightened.

He had been rough with her, she told him she did not want sex, but he would not listen.

She claimed that during the second alleged rape, she could not say anything, as she was too scared. The girl told the court: "I just wished it was over."

The girl said Woodworth then asked her to perform a sex act and got annoyed because she would not do what he wanted.

She said Woodworth told her he had had 15 pints of lager and was "really chuffed" because he had £60 left. The next morning she went straight to her sister's in tears.

Cross-examined by Keith Harrison, defending, the girl said she never agreed to do anything more than kiss Woodworth. She had had about six or seven halves of lager, was tipsy but knew what she was doing.
