WHENEVER a move towards introducing a ban on hunting with dogs is announced, we can look forward to being submerged under the avalanche of rubbish with which this barbarous pursuit would be defended.

While defenders of hunting like James Ilott (Letters, March 20) try to blur the argument, the facts are that hunting with dogs is cruel and inefficient.

Independent polls consistently show that almost three-quarters of British people want hunting banned.

I applaud Pendle MP Gordon Prentice's determination in striving to bring an end to this barbaric cruelty.
