A NURSE who has worked in the NHS for more than four decades has called an end to her marathon career.
Dorothy Robinson, pictured front centre, was given a big send off by her colleagues at the Waterside Restaurant at Blackburn Royal Infirmary.
Dorothy has been a nurse for 42 years after starting work in 1957, just nine years after the foundation of the National Health Service.
She trained at Blackburn Royal Infirmary and worked in various wards in the surgery department.
Dorothy has also had various stints in the premature baby unit, as a district nurse and specialist nurse in Blackburn.
She is married to husband Peter and the couple have two daughters, a son and a step son. Peter and Dorothy also have three grandsons and three granddaughters.
Dorothy has already planned a cruise to celebrate her retirement and lists her main interests as golf and travelling.
