A Double salvo from veteran striker Stuart Farnell ensured Bacup bounced back in style following their recent mauling at the hands of Darwen.

Manager Brent Peters' decision to change his formation proved to be a masterstroke as Borough cruised to a comprehensive victory.

Once the home side had won the early midfield battle, they had the game virtually sewn up by the break.

And it was Farnell who led the way, opening the scoring for Borough on 12 minutes. Formby tried desperately to get back into it but, with Paul Lyons and Jimmy Gemmill in mean mood, there was no way past a determind Bacup defence.

Borough increased their lead on 25 minutes when Nicky Taylor lashed home an effort from outside the box.

And they added a third before half time when Richard Stevens squeezed home a shot through a ruck of players.

Borough eased off after the break but Farnell did notch his second on 69 minutes with a drive from a tight angle.

Formby bagged a late consolation when defender Tony Millar thumped a shot into the roof of the net with 15 minutes left.
