A STRANGE sight met people in Read and Whalley - a Roundhead soldier on horseback.
Motorists couldn't believe their eyes when they saw the man in full civil war regalia casually riding through Read.
The rider was David Shorrock and he was following an ancient route taken by civil war soldiers in the 17th century.
