TWO mums have come up with a high-tech solution to those holiday blues with the creation of a children's website of days out.

Wicked4kids.co.uk is the brainchild of Linda Coram (pictured) and Angela Holt and contains details about all kinds of activities throughout the North West for children of all ages .

Linda and her business partner Angela, who designed the site, came up with the idea just three months ago while they were working on a website about childcare.

And now they have already had to take on four new members of staff as they expand the service.

"We wanted to make a site that was really easy to use," said Linda, a civil servant from Poulton.

"On some sites the pages are so detailed that it takes ages to get each page up, and you have to trawl through endless menus and even then you might not find what you are looking for.

"Our pages are very simple, with big buttons and they give the key information, like opening hours, facilities for children, cost and directions.

"We wanted to make a kind of 'Yellow Pages' for kids." Both Linda and Angela, also a civil servant, have children of their own and they are just as keen to work on the site as their parents.

"We've also had this idea of using children to help us write the 'wicked' reviews," said Angela.

"We give away free tickets and then get children to write about what they thought of their day out and then we publish it on the site.

"We've had lots of volunteers -- teenagers seem much more keen to do this than their ordinary English homework!"

Although the site was set up as a hobby, the two mums have been amazed by the response.

"Even though we hadn't done any marketing we found that we were getting thousands of hits a week and some really good feedback, so that's why we started developing it properly," said Angela.

Businesses get their basic information for free and then can pay more for more space.

"We've now got some major attractions including the Tower and the piers signed up."
