IT grieves me to remember the cock-ups the previous Tory councils inflicted on the residents of Blackpool, some of the effects we are still suffering from. Remember they were approached and asked which of the railway stations should be closed down.

In their wisdom they said close Central and thereby decimated the Central Drive area which has never recovered. They also allowed the beautiful Palace building to be pulled down and how we have missed it since and allowed an unsightly building to be put in its place.

Not content with that tragedy they allowed a concrete block to be erected behind the Golden Mile called Central police station, and that's another eyesore. They built the Sandcastle over the open air pool which has cost us a lot of money from day one. They built a bowling alley on a virtual traffic island and in the wrong area and tragedy upon tragedy they pulled down Derby baths, one of the finest baths around, then sold this prime Promenade site for peanuts, costing us, the ratepayers, a lot of money. What a slap in the face for us all.

They have left us with a disintegrating illumination system which has cost £9 m to put right. Oh and don't forget the crumbling sea walls we have had to rebuild since we kicked them out.

What a catalogue of disasters they left us. I think we should also be reminded of that great Boltrop Carnival disaster which cost us a lot of money and achieved nothing. Whatever did happen to all that beer that disappeared after the event? I believe it was last seen in the Rigby Road area.

I hope I have been able to help the don't knows in the coming election as I believe the same clique are attempting to get back into the squander again.
