I HAVE been reading with interest recent letters regarding the allocation of high school places: we were one of last year's so-called "casualties".

Having failed three appeals, we reached September contemplating home tuition. We then decided to try Coney Green, a school we had rejected because of distance (we live near Brandlesholme). We now transport our daughter by car to and from Coney Green, for safety reasons only.

The school is marvellous and I would travel further if it was necessary. We are now worried that, due to Coney Green's excellent recent results, we will not be able to get a place there for our son in two years.

I have nothing but praise for the way the school has helped our daughter fit in. The teaching is great and they have coped brilliantly with our daughter being temporarily disabled. In fact we think ourselves lucky that she is there.

Among other things they take the difficult problem of bullying seriously, which is more than I can say for some nearer schools if reports from our daughter's ex-classmates are anything to go by.

So stop attacking Coney Green and start attacking the Government who decided to change the rules and cause all this mess and anguish for parents.
