Lancashire Lynx coach Steve Hampson is sorting out his future after he parted company with Ford Premiership's bottom club by "mutual consent".

The former Great Britain, Wigan and Salford full-back has seen his side win just one of their 19 league games this season, conceding over 900 points in the process.

Hampson said: "I am disappointed but there is not a lot I can say at this time until everything has been sorted out with Lancashire Lynx.

"I am unemployed now and am looking for a job."

Hampson, who is the personal fitness adviser to the Lancashire cricket team, was at one time linked with teaming up with the top golfers as their fitness trainer but he admitted: "That never came off."

He did say though: "I'd like to get straight back into coaching if I can, possibly as an assistant at a Super League club. I perhaps just need a bit more experience."

Hampson, who took over the reins from Kiwi Kevin Tamati, said only last week that he intended to see out his contract until September.

But he was called to a board meeting at 5.30pm last night when it was decided he should part company.

The Chorley-based club had lost their last two games by a record 98-4 to Keighley Cougars and 72-13 to Dewsbury Rams.
