HAVING read your report 'Our taxi crashed then left us behind!' (LET, May 30), I had to check the calendar to see that it wasn't April Fools' Day!

I was astounded to read that after being involved in a car accident, Jeff Moulton, aged 15 and his adult male companion were allegedly left to make their own way home by taxi driver Wajid Mahmood at 3.30am.

I am surprised they were in his taxi in the first place! What on earth was a minor doing out at that time on "a night out on the town," particularly so close to important exams?

Where did Master Moulton find his entertainment at that ungodly hour?

I am equally amazed at the reaction of his mother, Mrs Senga Moulton, who branded Mr Mahmood's actions as 'disgusting.'

She should think herself lucky that her son only received what appear to be rather minor injuries and a dry-cleaning bill for the damage caused by his spilt kebab.

Mrs Moulton also seems aggrieved at not receiving an apology from Elite Private Hire, but I feel she should apologise to the police for wasting their time on an incident involving a child who should have been tucked up in bed.
