CARL Fogarty's racing future could rest in the hands of an unidentified Australian bike fan.

The injured World Superbike champ has appealed for eye-witnesses to his crash at Phillip Island, which fractured his arm in three places.

Fogarty wants to be assured that the horrific break was caused by him hitting the tyre wall, and not the actual collision with Robert Ulm.

But, to date, nobody has been able to shed any light on the details of his fall.

He said: "There must be a lot of people in Australia who saw what happened, even on TV.

"If I knew that I'd broken it by hitting a tyre wall really hard, then I would probably feel more confident when I get back on a bike again.

"I'd like whoever was there to try and let me know what they saw.

"It's frustrating me because I want to know more about it.

"Ducati boss Claudio Domenicali said I slid into the tyre wall. I didn't know that.

"But, if that's the case, it would make some sense. That would explain how I broke my shoulder and where the concussion has come from.

"It explains why my helmet is not marked.

"But I would like to know more about where I have gone down and what I've hit and at what angle, for my own peace of mind."

Fogarty is due to see his Oxford specialist on Wednesday for the latest update on his recovery although it remains unlikely that he will race again before September.
