A NEW poster campaign is being launched in a bid to discover what happened to a Morecambe mother, two years after her disappearance.

Margaret Brennan, then 55, was last seen on the platform at Lancaster Railway Station, on June 15 1998.

Her Daughter, Liz, 15, talked to her for a few moments before catching her train, not realising it would be the last time she would see her mother.

Margaret had been estranged from her family for some time and lived at council wardened accommodation in Manchester, from where she was reported missing the day before her brief conversation with her daughter.

Her former husband, Graeme Last, fears she took her own life, but is still anxious to hear where she travelled to on the day.

He said: "The situation, really, is that we are looking for people who travelled with her so we can find out where she went to.

"We feel she may have taken her own life but we are just searching for information about where and when she may have died."

Margaret was also featured in BBC TV and radio's 'The Search' series last year.

Liz, who made an emotional appeal in the Citizen last year for her mother to return, is currently continuing her studies at Lancaster Girls Grammar School. Graeme added: "She obviously has some very down periods and she is going to be coming off the train every day and seeing this poster during the next few weeks.

The poster, issued by Manchester police, contains details about the last sighting and reads: "We are trying to contact Margaret to ensure she is safe and well."

Any Citizen reader with information about Margaret is asked to contact Greater Manchester Police on 0161 856 3929.
