MORECAMBE motorcycle ace John McGuinness grabbed his second Isle of Man TT victory on Wednesday - and immediately dedicated his win to a friend who died in the previous year's festival.

McGuinness took first place in the singles TT race, riding a Chrysalis AMDM 720.

The event had been won for the previous three years by David Morris, who lost his life in an accident on the island last year.

McGuinness said: "The bike was perfect. It makes up for disappointment in Monday's lightweight 250cc. A TT victory of any kind is very special."

McGuinness came in third in Saturday's formula one race to record his first podium finish in the formula one category of the world's most famous motorbike festival.

The 26 year old star handled the wet conditions well in only his second race on a superbike.

He said: "I always thought I could do it and Honda gave me the bike so I could come up with the goods.

"I was just going at my own pace and thought top six would be good, but top three is absolutely brilliant."

McGuinness eventually lost out to Honda team mate Joey Dunlop. The same rider also stole McGuinness' Lightweight TT crown on Monday.

Dunlop stormed to victory as the Morecambe rider dropped out while comfortably ins second place on the last lap.

McGuinness added: "I could see my board and knew I couldn't catch Joey, so I was planning on a steady ride around the last lap.

"I'm absolutely devastated because I knew I could have finished on the rostrum again."

The festival finishes for McGuinness when he rides the Honda superbike in Friday's senior TT race.
