POLICE closed the Liverpool and Manchester bound carriageways of the East Lancashire Road shortly after 1.30pm on Tuesday afternoon after a man fell to his death from Windle Hall Bridge.
The man, who was in his 50s, is believed to be from Essex.
The East Lancashire Road was closed between City Road and Windle Island and was reopened an hour later.
