BRITAIN has the highest petrol prices in Europe, yet figures released by the European Union show that pre-tax Britain pays just 21p a litre for crude oil, which is cheaper than anywhere else in Europe except Germany, which pays 20p.
These figures prove that the real reason for high pump prices are tax and not rising crude oil taxes, as the Government claimed last week.
Petrol has gone up since the General Election by 44 per cent and threequarters of that rise is due to Labour's tax increases.
Under this high-tax government, I don't give it long before petrol rises to £1 a litre.
